The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University<\/strong>, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn<\/strong>, Director of BART LAB<\/strong>, visited Singapore to strengthen academic collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU)<\/strong> and National University of Singapore (NUS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At NTU<\/strong>, the delegation was warmly welcomed by long-time collaborator Prof. Ang Wei Tech<\/strong>, Director of the Rehabilitation Robotics Lab. The team visited the Rehabilitation Gait Analysis Laboratory<\/strong> and Robotics Research Centre<\/strong>, which featured impressive projects beyond rehabilitation robotics, including insect-inspired rescue robots<\/strong>, magnetically controlled micro-robots for targeted drug delivery<\/strong>, and other cutting-edge innovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At NUS<\/strong>, the team was hosted by Prof. James Goh<\/strong>, founding chair of the NUS Department of Biomedical Engineering. A special joint meeting and exchange session<\/strong> was held between Mahidol and NUS faculty members to discuss renewing the long-standing joint student project program<\/strong>, which sends teams of BME students from both universities to collaborate on real hospital-based clinical engineering problems. The program had been paused during the pandemic and is now being revitalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, the Mahidol delegation also reconnected with several alumni working and studying in Singapore, including Mr. Ming Pichak<\/strong>, a recent Royal Scholarship recipient from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn<\/strong>, who is now pursuing graduate studies at NTU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 12 faculty members and students<\/strong> from Mahidol BME joined the Singapore visit. Special thanks to Dr. Worakorn (James) Charoensuk<\/strong>, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, for initiating this collaborative mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
