BART LAB at RoboCup 2024: A Small Team Making Big MovesBART LAB Competes at RoboCup 2024: Rescue Robot Team in ActionBART LAB at RoboCup 2024: A Small Team Making Big Moves

July 2024 – BART LAB is once again showcasing its expertise at RoboCup 2024, competing in the Rescue Robot category. The event kicked off with two days (July 15-16) dedicated to assembling our robot. This year, our team is the smallest ever sent to RoboCup, consisting of just five members, including Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn. Even with a small team, the robot and the work are as significant as always.

By July 20, the BART LAB Rescue Team was fully engaged, competing from the Preliminary through the Semi-Final rounds. Each team member played a crucial role:

  • Lily: Electronics
  • Iq’q: Programming and robot control
  • Pete: Mechanics
  • Am: Supervisor and trip leader
  • Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn: Team support and observer

A special thanks to all the BART LAB team members both in Eindhoven and back home in Thailand. Key contributors include Peat, Pop, Bee, Taew, Shen, Nui, Songpol, Dileep, and the 1st-4th year Mahidol BME students who provided essential support. We are also grateful to our sponsors, friends, and organizations such as RoboCup, RCAP, and the Thailand RoboCup Robotics Association for their support.

During the competition, BART LAB also strengthened its collaboration with the Shinobi Team from Kyoto University and partners from US-NIST. This partnership has been part of an ongoing international research project, funded by e-Asia, which also includes a student and staff exchange program.

Our deep thanks go to:

  • Kyoto University: Prof. Matsuno (OIT)
  • US-NIST: Adam Jacoff, Tom Hauss
  • German Standard Org: Johannes Pellenz
  • Japanese F-REI: Prof. Tetsuya Kimura (Nagaoka University of Technology)

RoboCup 2024 is not only a competition but a platform for strengthening partnerships and advancing our shared passion for robotics and innovation.
