Robotics and Automation in Hospital Logistics

Robotics and Automation in Hospital Logistics are cutting-edge technology that meets the complex challenges of healthcare supply chain management. BART LAB, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital at Mahidol University, is at the forefront of pioneering research projects supported by The Thailand Research Fund (TRF) aimed at revolutionizing the delivery and dispensing of drugs and medical supplies in hospital settings.

Collaborative and Funding

With a total funding of 6,000,000 THB (approximately 200,000 USD), this project aims to apply robotics and automation to revolutionize hospital logistics applications and enhance patient care.

The project encompasses three main components. Firstly, the development of mobile robots for drug and medical supplies delivery aims to optimize hospital transportation processes. By leveraging autonomous robots, the project seeks to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of vital medications and supplies to different hospital departments, ultimately improving patient safety and satisfaction.

Secondly, the project focuses on the creation of drug-dispensing robotic systems. These systems are designed to automate the medication dispensing process, minimizing the risk of errors and ensuring precise administration. By integrating robotic technologies into drug dispensing, the project aims to enhance medication management and improve patient outcomes.

The project places significant emphasis on IT security for hospital data. With sensitive patient information at stake, robust security measures are crucial. The project team is dedicated to implementing stringent measures to protect patient data, including secure access protocols and safeguards against unauthorized access or breaches.

Succession

Led by Professor Jackrit Suthakorn, the Robotics, and Automation for Hospital Logistics project represents a multidisciplinary collaboration between BART LAB and the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital. By combining expertise in robotics, automation, and healthcare, the project aims to revolutionize hospital logistics, enhance efficiency, and drive advancements in patient care.

Through this groundbreaking research initiative, BART LAB is at the forefront of transforming hospital logistics using cutting-edge technology. By integrating robotics and automation, the project seeks to optimize the delivery and dispensing of drugs and medical supplies within hospitals, ultimately improving patient safety, reducing errors, and enhancing overall healthcare outcomes.
