September 4, 2024 – On the second day of their visit to Chennai, India, the BART LAB delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn, continued their exploration of cutting-edge research and industrial facilities in Tamil Nadu. The team visited multiple centers of excellence that play a pivotal role in advancing biotechnology, life sciences, and manufacturing technologies.

The morning session included a visit to TICEL Bio Park II, a state-of-the-art TIDCO Center for Life Sciences. Supported by TIDCO (Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited), the facility serves as a hub for biotechnology and healthcare startups, providing incubation space, research facilities, and high-end equipment. The team was particularly impressed by the fully operational ecosystem, where real startups and companies actively utilize the facilities for innovation and development.

In the afternoon, the team explored key centers focused on advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0:

  • TANSAM (Tamil Nadu Smart and Advanced Manufacturing Centre): A well-structured facility supporting Industry 4.0, AR/VR, embedded systems, and emerging industrial technologies.
  • TANCAM (Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing): A large-scale hub specializing in CAD-based 3D modeling and industrial-grade software solutions across multiple industries.
  • TANCOE (Tamil Nadu Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence): A full-scale 3D metal printing facility equipped with advanced surface finishing and product development capabilities.

These visits reinforced the scale and strategic vision of TIDCO, which plays a crucial role in promoting industrial growth, technology advancement, and economic development in Tamil Nadu. Recognized as India’s highest-income state, Tamil Nadu leads in sectors such as medicine, education, automotive, IT, and healthcare, with Chennai as its key economic and technological hub.
