Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn Becomes First Thai Keynote Speaker at IEEE ROBIO 2024
December 13, 2024 – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn, Director of the Center for Biomedical and Robotics Technology (BART LAB), was honored to serve as a Keynote Speaker at the 20th IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (IEEE ROBIO 2024), marking a historic milestone as the first Thai professor to be invited in the conference’s 20-year history.
Held in Thailand this year, IEEE ROBIO 2024 is a premier global conference that gathered experts from around the world, with 399 papers presented across various robotics domains.
Assoc. Prof. Jackrit delivered a keynote titled:
“Transforming Patient Care through Medical Robotics Research in Surgical, Rehabilitation, and Hospital Service Robotics.”
His talk focused on the real-world clinical impact of robotics in improving surgical precision, rehabilitation support, and hospital service efficiency, highlighting how AI, sensor systems, and biomechanical design are shaping the future of healthcare.
The presentation also emphasized the role of BART LAB in bridging research and clinical practice through ISO-aligned development, regulatory compliance, and clinical validation, ensuring that technologies are both effective and safe for real-world deployment.
He received thoughtful questions from renowned global roboticists, including Prof. Hiroshi Kosuge (Tohoku University, Japan) and Prof. Antoine Ferreira (INSA, France).
Special thanks were extended to Prof. Zhidong Wang (Chiba Institute of Technology) for the invitation, Prof. Fei Chen (CUHK, Hong Kong), Program Chair, and to collaborators including Dr. Branesh Madhavan, Dr. Nui Nan Nantida, and the entire BART LAB team.
