BART LAB and Mahidol Biomedical Engineering Made a Partnership Agreement with Thai Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) to Create “National Advanced Medical Robotics Program” with a Budget of “2 Billions Thai Baht (About 70 Millions USD)”
On April 5, 2013, Mr. Woravat Auapinyakul, Minister of Science and Technology of Thailand held a press conference with other MOST Administrators, BART LAB Director and other related partners to announce a new project on “National Advanced Medical Robotics Program” with a budget of “2 Billions Thai Baht (About 70 Millions USD).”
MOST by “Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences” – TCELS (Dr. Nares Damrongchai – TCELS Director) and “National Nanotechnology Center” – NANOTEC (Prof.Dr. Sirirurg Songsivilai, M.D. – NANOTEC Director) have beenworking with BART LAB and Department of Biomedical Engineering (Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn and Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat), Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University to develop the focused project on “National Advanced Medical Robotics Program.” The program will promote funded research prototypes in Medical Robotics and Related Fields through commercialized process, including, commercializing research, systemic testing, clinical trailing, medical standard certifying and business planning. Thailand is positioned as the ASEAN regional hub for the advanced medical robot industry. A part of this program will include constructing a new building for the “National Advanced Medical Robotics Center,” located at Mahidol University.
