Mahidol University Opens “Mahidol–Tottori Innovation Satellite” in Japan

Mahidol University has officially launched the “Mahidol–Tottori Innovation Satellite (MTI)”, marking a major step in international collaboration between Thailand and Japan. The opening ceremony took place at the Tottori Industrial Promotion Organization (TIPO), with support from the Tottori Prefecture Government.

The establishment of MTI aims to strengthen cooperation in medical robotics, artificial intelligence, and healthcare innovation, connecting Mahidol researchers with Japan’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Dr. Nantida “Nui Nan” Nillahoot, Innovation Director of BART LAB, became the first Mahidol representative stationed at the MTI office. Her two-week mission includes visiting industrial partners, research facilities, and manufacturing companies across Tottori to explore potential collaborations and technology transfer opportunities.

Representing Mahidol University at the ceremony was Dean Sumo Wanichanon, Faculty of Engineering, who expressed gratitude for Tottori’s warm hospitality and the province’s long-standing commitment to fostering innovation.

Mr. Seiji Okamura, President of TIPO, welcomed the initiative and emphasized the importance of international cooperation between Tottori and Mahidol in advancing medical technologies.

The signing and opening ceremony were also featured in NHK Japan’s news coverage, highlighting the significance of this Thailand–Japan innovation partnership.

タイのマヒドン大学は、鳥取県産業振興機構（Tottori Industrial Promotion Organization：TIPO）の支援を受け、
日本・鳥取県において「マヒドン–鳥取イノベーション・サテライト（Mahidol–Tottori Innovation Satellite：MTI）」を正式に開設しました。
この新たな取り組みは、タイと日本の間における国際連携を強化し、医療ロボティクス、人工知能（AI）、およびヘルスケアイノベーションの分野における協力を促進することを目的としています。

マヒドン大学バイオメディカル＆ロボティクス技術センター（BART LAB）のイノベーションディレクターである
**ナンティダー・ニラフット博士（Dr. Nantida “Nui Nan” Nillahoot）**が、同サテライトオフィスに常駐する最初の代表として派遣されました。
博士は約2週間にわたり、鳥取県内の企業、研究施設、製造業者を訪問し、技術移転や産学連携の可能性を探ります。

マヒドン大学工学部長の**スモー・ワニチャノン教授（Dean Sumo Wanichanon）**が代表として開設式に出席し、
鳥取県およびTIPOからの温かい歓迎と支援に深く感謝の意を表しました。

TIPOの岡村誠司（Seiji Okamura）会長は、「医療技術の発展において、鳥取とマヒドンの国際協力は重要な意義を持つ」と述べ、
この共同プロジェクトへの期待を語りました。

開設式の様子は、NHK日本放送協会のニュースでも報道され、タイと日本の新たなイノベーション・パートナーシップとして注目を集めました。
