Panel Discussion on “Future Workforce in Biomedical and AI Technology” at TAIST–Science Tokyo Conference 2025

As part of the TAIST–Science Tokyo Conference 2025, a special panel discussion on “Future Workforce in Biomedical and AI Technology” was held to explore strategies for developing next-generation professionals in biomedical innovation, artificial intelligence, and medical device engineering.

The session featured distinguished experts from academia, industry, and national research agencies, including:

  1. Asst. Prof. Dr. Warakorn Charoensuk – Head, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University
  2. Mr. Winij Rithchum – Honorary Chairman, Medical Device Industry Club, Federation of Thai Industries (MeDIC–FTI)
  3. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattapon Thuangtong, MD – Executive Member, Medical Council of Thailand; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University
  4. Dr. Sarawut Lertpallungsanti – Deputy Executive Director, National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), NSTDA

The discussion was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn, Founding Director of the Center for Biomedical and Robotics Technology (BART LAB), Mahidol University.

Panelists exchanged insights on the essential roles of universities, industry, and government in nurturing a skilled workforce capable of driving biomedical engineering and AI innovation in Thailand. The session emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration, hands-on training, and national-level coordination as key enablers for sustainable technological advancement.
