Ramathibodi–Mahidol Engineering Holds M.D.–M.Eng. Mini Symposium to Showcase Dual-Degree Biomedical Research
Bangkok, Thailand – April 26, 2025
The M.D.–M.Eng. Mini Symposium was held at The Sukosol Hotel, Phayathai, to highlight research achievements of the second cohort of students in the Dual-Degree Program in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering. The program is a collaboration between the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University.
Sixteen medical students (Year 3) in this exclusive track presented their completed Master’s-level research projects conducted during their one-year study at the Faculty of Engineering, before they return to continue their clinical training in Years 4–6 of the standard M.D. curriculum.
This highly selective and unique dual-degree program allows medical students to gain in-depth research experience and earn an M.Eng. degree in Biomedical Engineering alongside their M.D. degree. The program is designed to foster medical innovators and clinician-engineers capable of bridging the gap between medicine and technology.
The symposium showcased diverse research topics and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Among the notable presenters were:
- Med. Student “Chonn” and Med. Student “King”, advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn
- Med. Student “Friend” and Med. Student “Sira”, members of BART LAB, working under the supervision of Dr. Shen Treratanakulchai
All students were commended for their outstanding work, and faculty members were recognized for their mentorship and cross-faculty research project development.
